»» Bluing (183)Gander Mountain’s Gunsmith department was founded in 1979 in Wilmot, WI. During its early stages, the gunsmith “department” was a one-man operation housed in a 200 square foot shop. As Gander Mountain’s reputation for quality work at a reasonable price grew, so did the shop. By the late 80’s, during the catalog days, the shop employed five full time gunsmiths and offered a host of professional services and accessories. Entering the 90’s, Gander Mountain focused on growing its retail presence in the Outdoor sporting goods market, and was determined in their choice to grow its gunsmith services within each new store as well. Today, Gander Mountain employs over 100 gunsmiths in eighteen states, and repairs tens of thousands of firearms each year. The original gunsmith shop in Wilmot, WI has now been replaced by a new shop in Kenosha, WI, that serves as the central shop for the entire chain, repairing firearms from all around the country. The new shop employs twelve full-time, professionally trained associates that offer 100 plus years of experience between them. Over the years Gander Mountain gunsmiths have adapted the slogan “Quality, Integrity & Service”. Each of the gunsmiths treats that slogan as their own personal pledge.
